My approach to therapy is attachment based psychoanalysis with a trauma focus approach. What does this mean? All humans have the basic fundamental need to be loved, be seen, and to be heard. Our beliefs, feelings, behavioral patterns, and relational dynamics are driven by these needs before we could articulate. We learned about our world through our first relationships and these subconscious attachments. We work to make the subconscious conscious, identify how your attachment reinforces your choices, and unworked through feelings. Trauma focused does not mean you have to have an identified traumatic experience; rather, you experienced an event that was too complex for you to process at that time. Creating awareness will lead to creating change.
Whatever you are going through right now is multi-causal and multi-maintained. We will assess your psyche through your experience and beliefs, relationships with others, societal expectations, and world events. No person is an island.
Sometimes we get stuck when our old ways of being no longer serve you. This is the signal to evolve and work through this internal tension. Dysfunction presents itself differently for everyone. This can be depression, anxiety, hopelessness, stress, impulsivity, PTSD, or other diagnoses. You may feel you are having the same outcomes or relationships and you are. We work together to understand whys and the subconscious attempts to work through.
In our sessions, you can expect to have conversations and breakthroughs.
Therapy can be challenging and I am with you. I like to add humor when appropriate, come up for air, speak your defense mechanism. You already have everything you need to overcome, let’s figure out your Truth.
Experience includes trauma, depression, anxiety, self actualization, relationships, infidelity, LGBTQIA+ with individuals, couples, and families.
